Little Sisters of St. Francis of poultry project is run by two sisters and twenty other active women who joined their initiative. In total they have 400 young layers, 200 broilers, 100 due for laying as of August 2021.
They started their poultry journey in April 2020 and successfully built two houses for the birds. This was a major success despite the project being initiated during the Covid-19 pandemic. They then bought chicks and reared them into the now flourishing business. Their customers are mainly schools, neighbours and hotels in their region.
They plan to continue to grow the flock and expand their business. They are also looking for new ways to get funding so as to recruit new women and utilize the poultry houses that have already been made. They plan to continue expanding and empowering more members of their community.
